The Ocean at Your Doorstep

Living in California, or more specifically at Onyx Glendale apartments, gives a lot of benefits, but perhaps the most obvious one is its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean; after all, the beaches stretch for miles, and the sun reflects its golden light on the powerful waves, giving the state its namesake (other than the gold rushes that populated the place in the 1840’s.) Naturally with the largest ocean in the world right next door, you can’t help but to wonder what exactly lies beneath the surface, what kind of colorful or fantastic creatures make their home in the city. For the curious mind, the answers await at the Aquarium of the Pacific, a half hour drive away.

Aquarium of the Pacific is one of the largest aquariums in the entire state, showcasing nearly 500 species of flora and fauna and 11,000 animals in the Pacific Ocean, a library’s worth of facts and educational tidbits, and movements on their conservation and care for the sea. Special exhibits feature just a little part of the biggest ecosystem in the world, such as Shark Lagoon with 150 different kinds of shark – some of which you’re even able to touch – along with interactive displays; Whales: Voices in the Sea where you can learn the difference between the call of a humpback whale or an orca; Horses and Dragons, a rather medieval name for the unique seahorses and their brethren, and much more. The aquarium is open nearly every day from 9am to 6pm; general admission tickets are $30 for adults, $18 for kids, and $27 for seniors, though special group purchases, discounts, and other fun add-ons are available to expand your visit.

Take a dive and explore the sea with your loved ones. Come to Onyx Glendale and find the apartment of your dreams, then visit the Aquarium of the Pacific for your next weekend or day off.
